Position Overview

Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Early Years Programme (EYP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As an Early Years Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and inquiry-driven learning environment for young learners in an IB EYP setting. Using a play-based learning approach, the teacher facilitates holistic development, focusing on cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor skills. The role requires fostering a student-centered, transdisciplinary learning experience while aligning with IB philosophies and SPK regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and implement inquiry-based, play-centered learning experiences that align with the IB EYP framework.

  2. Foster a child-led, hands-on learning environment where students explore, create, and develop essential skills.

  3. Integrate storytelling, music, movement, and art to encourage language development and creative expression.

  4. Develop age-appropriate literacy and numeracy activities through play, exploration, and real-world connections.

  5. Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.

  6. Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports all learners.

  7. Support children’s social-emotional growth through positive reinforcement, collaborative play, and self-regulation techniques.

  8. Foster independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills through structured and unstructured play.

  9. Guide students in conflict resolution and emotional expression using age-appropriate strategies.

  10. Work closely with parents to support students' well-being, transitions, and overall development.

  11. Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.

  12. Contribute to school events, performances, and exhibitions that celebrate student learning.


Background Experiences

  1. Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB EYP,PYP,  international, or bilingual school using play-based learning and inquiry-based approaches.

  2. Knowledge of child development theories and best practices for early years education..

  3. Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.

  4. Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.

  5. Experience integrating STEM, sustainability, and environmental awareness into the curriculum is a plus.

  6. Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.


Professional & Educational Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education,or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).

  2. Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB PYP Certification, play-based learning professional certification, or equivalent).

  3. IB PYP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.

  4. Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.

  1. Curriculum Integration & Alignment – Understanding of both IB PYP standards and Indonesian national education requirements.

  2. Cultural Sensitivity & Community Engagement – Awareness of the unique social and emotional needs of children in mining industry settings.

  3. Resilience & Adaptability – Ability to work in a remote school environment and support students facing transitional family dynamics.

  4. Collaboration & Leadership – Experience working with cross-functional teams, parents, and stakeholders to enhance student learning.

  5. Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, and data-driven assessment strategies.

  6. Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning.

  7. Proficiency in inquiry-based, transdisciplinary teaching methods and classroom management.

  8. Excellent classroom management skills in a play-based setting.

  9. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.

  10. Passion for nurturing curiosity, creativity, and independent learning in young children.
