Vessel Accountant

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial operations for an assigned fleet, handling fund requests, invoice validations, portage bill reviews, and month-end adjustments.
• Prepare and distribute monthly vessel financial packages, including cash flow statements and budget variance analyses, ensuring technical teams and ship owners receive them on schedule.
• Complete monthly balance sheet and fund balance reconciliations for your assigned portfolio.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for vessel owners and internal technical departments, resolving financial inquiries and ensuring reporting standards align with client expectations.
• Assist the Reporting Manager with month-end management reports, executive summaries, and high-level variance analysis.
• Partner with finance managers and operational teams to deliver solutions-oriented recommendations while maintaining strict compliance with accounting standards.
• Handle administrative accounting tasks and special reporting projects as required.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
• Minimum of 4 years of solid experience in core accounting and financial reporting. Experience within the maritime or shipping sector is a strong plus.
• Strong proficiency in financial statement preparation, cash flow analysis, and budget tracking.
• Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Exposure to digital accounting automation workflows or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is highly advantageous.
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset.
