ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you want to play a key role in connecting people, cultures and expertise across continents? As Manager Tendering & Engineering (T&E) Indonesia, you will lead a local team of approximately 30 to 50 engineering professionals while acting as the vital link between your local team and the rest of the T&E department in Van Oord (VO) which is primarily located in the Netherlands.
This is a leadership role in which you combine people leadership, stakeholder management and operational oversight to ensure strong collaboration, effective decision making and successful project delivery. You will help shape an environment where local expertise and global knowledge come together to build the VO future together.
THE POSITION
As Manager T&E Indonesia, you are responsible for the leadership and governance of the Indonesian T&E office in Jakarta (Cibubur). As an integral part of the global T&E organisation, the office operates fully in line with its ways of working, standards and delivery model. You strengthen this integration while ensuring the office operates safely, compliantly and effectively, supporting project delivery across the region and the wider business.
You lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and developers, building a high performing organisation and a working culture that reflects Van Oord's values. As the key link between the Indonesian organisation and Van Oord's headquarters in the Netherlands, you ensure alignment with global T&E processes, standards and priorities. The role requires close collaboration with colleagues in the Netherlands and the ability to balance local priorities with global objectives.
Success depends on your ability to navigate cultural differences, build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, reinforcing the Indonesian office as a fully integrated part of the global T&E organisation.
Alongside leading the Indonesian T&E office, you manage and further develop part of the T&E information landscape, ensuring alignment with global systems and standards. You report to the Manager Information Management and T&E Shared Service Centre.
YOUR IMPACT
As Manager T&E Indonesia, you create the conditions for seamless collaboration between local teams and global stakeholders. You act as a trusted representative of Van Oord in Indonesia and as a bridge between Dutch and Indonesian ways of working, ensuring that both operate as one integrated T&E organisation.
Through strong, inspirational leadership, clear communication and sound decision making, you keep the local office engaged and aligned with company standards while responding effectively to local needs.
You are responsible for the legal and financial stewardship of the local office and play a key role in maintaining a healthy, compliant and well connected organisation. Your leadership enables teams to perform at their best while strengthening collaboration across the wider business.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead, coach and develop a team of approximately 30 to 50 employees while fostering the Van Oord culture within a globally integrated T&E organisation.
• Act as the primary link between the Indonesian T&E office and the wider T&E department, ensuring strong alignment and integration.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, Indonesian authorities, partners and corporate functions.
• Oversee the office's financial management, budgeting, reporting and legal responsibilities while ensuring compliance with local regulations and VO’s policies.
• Monitor performance, quality, risks and compliance, providing insights and recommendations that support effective decision making and continuous improvement.

You are an experienced leader who is comfortable operating international and multicultural environment. You understand what it takes to lead a local organisation that is embedded within a global department.
You naturally connect people, build trust and create alignment across different cultures, functions and stakeholder groups. You are comfortable working in a matrix organisation and understand the importance of communication, transparency and collaboration. With a hands on leadership style, you know how to support teams while ensuring organisational objectives are achieved. You bring the maturity, cultural awareness and operational understanding needed to successfully lead a branch organisation that operates as an integral part of a global organisation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across multiple functions, cultures and organisational levels.
• Minimum 10 years professional experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles project-based environment.
• Proven experience managing budgets, financial responsibilities, legal compliance and operational performance.
• Experience working for a Dutch company or within a Dutch corporate environment is considered a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication and people management skills.
• Fluency in English (speaking and writing) is required. Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.
