Summary
The Deputy HoS of Students' Well Being is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects related to student welfare, discipline, co-curricular activities, character building, and the overall student experience within the school.
This role is crucial in fostering a positive and conducive learning environment, ensuring student well-being, and promoting holistic student development in line with the national educational goals set forth by the Ministry of Education.
The Deputy HoS of Students' Well Being acts as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and the principal, advocating for student needs and ensuring adherence to school rules and national educational policies.
Job Description Overview:
A. Student Discipline and Welfare
Develop and enforce school rules in accordance with national educational guidelines and school policies.
Manage student disciplinary issues, conduct investigations, and apply educational sanctions. Cross-coordinate with the Deputy HoS of Academic for IB DP cases to maintain IBO compliance.
Maintain comprehensive records of student attendance and behavior, while implementing initiatives to promote positive character development.
B. Student Activities and Development
Collaborate with the Co-Curricular Activities Coordinator and the IB DP Coordinator to align school-wide student activities with the IB CAS requirements, ensuring IB students can fulfill their CAS portfolios through established school programs without administrative duplication.
Support the Student Council (OSIS) Coordinator in overseeing OSIS formation, leadership development, civic engagement, and school events.
Facilitate and support student participation in external and inter-school competitions.
Develop, implement, organize, and supervise programs for student leadership training, civic engagement. and school-wide student events.
C. Parent and Community Engagement
Maintain open and transparent communication with parents regarding student behavior and well-being.
Partner with the Academic division to organize parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and informational sessions on school policies.
Engage with external community organizations to provide enrichment opportunities for students.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Proven track record in an educational leadership role (e.g., Coordinator, Head of Department, or Assistant Principal), with a strong focus on student affairs, pastoral care, or student well-being.
Strong familiarity with the IB DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) framework, particularly CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirements would be an advantage.
Exceptional conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis-management skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and school leadership.
Strong organizational and supervisory skills to mentor and guide coordinators, counselors, and homeroom advisors.
High emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and a passionate commitment to fostering holistic student development and a safe school environment.
