About the Company

We are a well-established, small-to-medium civil construction company based in Yatala, delivering high-quality infrastructure and earthworks projects across South East Queensland. With a strong pipeline of work and a supportive team environment, we are seeking an experienced Company Accountant to take ownership of our finance department.

About the Role

Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for managing the company’s financial operations end-to-end. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys being involved across all aspects of accounting and finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable

• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, project profit and loss statements and other financial reports

• Oversee payroll processing (including compliance with awards/EBA where applicable)

• Maintain general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries

• Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, Payroll tax, and other statutory obligations

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across projects

• Monitor project costing and work with operations to track financial performance

• Manage fixed assets and capital expenditure

• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies

• Manage inter company transfers and other related entities

• Manage fleet purchases and sales

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) preferred

• Proven experience in a similar Company Accountant or Senior Accountant role

• Experience in construction, civil, or project-based environments highly regarded

• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and reporting requirements

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or similar) and Excel

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Ability to work autonomously while partnering with operational teams
