The QA & Training Superintendent will support the QHSE & Training Manager in implementing quality assurance activities, training programs, competence monitoring, cadetship development, and compliance follow-up for BKS Shipmanagement’s oil tanker and gas carrier fleet. This position will assist in ensuring that vessel personnel and shore-based staff are properly trained, competent, and aligned with company SMS, regulatory requirements, and charterer standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the QHSE & Training Manager in implementing company QHSE, SMS, and training programs.

  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of Company SMS, procedures, manuals, forms, and controlled documents.

  • Support internal audits, vessel inspections, management review preparation, and corrective/preventive action follow-up.

  • Assist in monitoring non-conformities, audit findings, inspection observations, near miss reports, incident reports, and corrective actions.

  • Maintain and update training records, crew competence matrix, training matrix, and related QA documentation.

  • Assist in identifying training needs based on audit findings, inspection results, incidents, near misses, vessel performance, and management review outcomes.

  • Prepare training materials, safety campaign materials, familiarization materials, briefing presentations, and learning modules.

  • Support implementation of training programs for shore-based staff and vessel personnel to strengthen safety awareness, compliance understanding, operational discipline, and competence development.

  • Perform training on-board for vessel crew and preparare vessel with crew ready for SIRE.

  • Coordinate and monitor crew pre-joining briefing, vessel familiarization, tanker safety briefing, and operational competence development.

  • Support the implementation and utilization of digital training platforms such as BASSNET, CHARTWORLD, NAVTOR, OLP/CES or other online learning systems.

  • Assist in cadetship program implementation, including cadet recruitment, selection, pre-sea preparation, placement, training monitoring, and performance follow-up.

  • Support preparation for SIRE, internal audit, flag state, class, Pertamina/charterer inspection, and TMSA-related readiness from training and competence aspects.

  • Coordinate with Marine, Technical, Crewing, Operations, and vessel teams to ensure training and QA activities are properly implemented.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Nautical, Maritime Studies, Safety, Education, Quality Management, or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in QA, training, safety, compliance, or ship management. Mimimum having Chief Officer experience onbaord oil or gas tanker.

  • Seagoing experience as Deck Officer or Engineer will be an advantage. And previous working for oil and gas tanker company (shipowner or shipmanagement).

  • Experience in oil tanker, chemical tanker, LPG/gas carrier, or marine energy transportation will be preferred.

  • Good understanding of ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, SMS implementation, and crew competence requirements.

  • Familiar with tanker/gas carrier operation, onboard familiarization, pre-joining briefing, training matrix, and compliance documentation.

  • Knowledge of SIRE, TMSA, Pertamina/charterer inspection, and audit requirements will be an advantage.

  • Able to prepare training materials, safety campaign materials, presentations, and reports.

  • Good communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, structured, and able to coordinate with multiple departments.

  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.

  • Having Training of Trainer certificate or maritime instructor background will be an advantage.

  • Able to work under the direction of the QHSE & Training Manager and support departmental objectives.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced ship management environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Holding ToT Certificates.
