Duties

The Investigative Assistant assists in an array of sensitive and complex criminal investigations related to document fraud, human smuggling, trafficking in persons, and other criminal issues as directed by the Overseas Criminal Investigator (OCI).  The job holder provides investigative, analytical, and administrative support in the operation of the Diplomatic Security (DS) Overseas Criminal Investigations (OCI) program at post.  The job holder updates the ongoing investigations database in Department of State (DOS) computer systems, and controls access of sensitive information.  The Investigative Assistant must be able to obtain a Tier 5 SSBI security clearance.

Requirements:

All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Secret security clearance.  All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation. Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (one month) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.  

Education Requirements:

Must have at least two years of general college or university study. (60 credit hours). Please address this factor in your ERA application under Education.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of administrative, journalism, education, business, logistics, investigative analysis, legal, law enforcement, emergency response, analytical or research-related fields is required.  (Please note that one credited year of working experience is comparable to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)
