Architect

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Architect to join AREA DESIGNS on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse architectural projects in the vibrant creative community of Ubud, Bali. As an Architect, you will play a crucial role in conceptualising, designing, and overseeing the realisation of architectural projects that reflect our commitment to innovative and sustainable design solutions. You will work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and design teams to deliver exceptional outcomes that enhance both the built environment and the communities we serve.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop comprehensive architectural designs and concepts that meet client requirements and project briefs

2. Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents using industry-standard software

3. Conduct site surveys and analyses to inform design decisions and ensure feasibility

4. Prepare project presentations and visualisations for client consultation and approval

5. Manage the design development process from initial concept through to detailed design phases

6. Collaborate with structural engineers, contractors, and other specialists to ensure integrated project delivery

7. Monitor construction progress and provide site supervision to ensure designs are implemented correctly

8. Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and sustainable design principles

9. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide professional advice throughout the project lifecycle

10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and project delivery methodologies

What we're looking for

1. Professional qualification in Architecture or equivalent recognised degree from an accredited institution

2. Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in architectural design and project delivery

3. Proficiency in architectural design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite

4. Strong knowledge of building codes, planning regulations, and construction methodologies

5. Demonstrated experience in site supervision and construction management

6. Excellent technical drawing and visualisation skills

7. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams

8. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance creative design with practical constraints

9. Experience with sustainable design principles and green building practices is highly desirable

10. Familiarity with tropical architecture or climate-responsive design is preferred

11. Professional registration or licensure as an architect is advantageous
