As a remote-first company handling sensitive financial data, cyber security and IT governance are critical to our growth. We’re now looking for a Cyber Security & IT Systems Engineer to help secure, manage, and scale our technology environment.

Role Description

This is a remote freelance role (with opportunity to become full-time) for a Cyber Security & IT Systems Engineer. You will be responsible for managing and securing our Microsoft 365 device environment, endpoint protection, patch management, and remote access infrastructure.

You’ll also ensure our systems remain aligned with ISO 27001 standards, support internal IT operations when needed, and provide security recommendations for a fully remote workforce.

This role combines cyber security, IT operations, and compliance in a growing financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and secure the Microsoft 365 environment (Entra ID, Intune, Defender, device compliance, access control).

• Administer endpoint security tools such as Sophos, Automox, and related patch management systems.

• Monitor, maintain, and improve device security across laptops and remote endpoints.

• Ensure company systems and processes stay aligned with ISO 27001 controls and best practices.

• Provide recommendations and implementation for secure remote work (VPNs, conditional access, MFA, device policies, etc.).

• Handle occasional IT support tasks (user access, device setup, troubleshooting, permissions, onboarding/offboarding).

• Improve identity, access, and data protection policies.

• Create and maintain basic documentation for security and IT procedures.

• Identify risks and propose practical security improvements as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Experience in Cyber Security, IT Systems Administration, or Security Engineering.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and endpoint management.

• Experience with security tools such as Sophos, Automox, Defender, VPNs, firewalls, MFA, device compliance.

• Understanding of ISO 27001 framework and controls.

• Familiar with remote workforce security best practices.

• Comfortable handling both strategic security planning and hands-on IT support.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Organized, proactive, trustworthy, and security-minded.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Bonus Points:

• Experience supporting financial or regulated companies.

• Knowledge of Australian data protection or compliance environments.

• Experience with scripting, automation, or security monitoring tools.

• Remote freelance role initially, with opportunity to transition into full-time as the company grows.

• Flexible working hours aligned loosely with Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

• You’ll work with a distributed team supporting Australian clients.

• We provide working devices (laptop).
