Database Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Database Engineers to support a large-scale telecommunications project. You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise databases that support OSS/BSS platforms, network analytics, and customer data systems while ensuring high performance, scalability, and data reliability.

Location: Jakarta (Hybrid/On-site)

Employment Type: Contract (4–6 Months)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize large-scale databases such as BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Build and maintain scalable database schemas for telecom data, including subscriber data, CDRs, billing, CRM, product catalog, and network KPIs.
• Optimize SQL queries, database performance, and storage efficiency.
• Implement database governance, metadata management, and data lineage best practices.
• Ensure database availability, backup, disaster recovery, and data integrity.
• Support integration between databases, OSS/BSS platforms, Data Lake, mediation, and analytics systems.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis for production incidents.
• Implement database security, access control, and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 5–9 years of experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or similar enterprise databases.
• Solid understanding of telecom data domains, including OSS/BSS, subscriber management, billing, CDRs, and network performance data.
• Experience with TM Forum SID data model is highly preferred.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with metadata and data governance tools such as Erwin or Collibra is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience leading technical discussions or mentoring junior engineers is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional cloud certification (GCP, AWS, or Azure) is an advantage.
• Experience delivering database solutions for large-scale telecom projects.
