Commis Chef – Laïa Café & Spa, Ungasan

Laïa Café & Spa is looking for a responsible and motivated Commis Chef to support our kitchen team in Ungasan, Bali. Our café serves breakfast, lunch, healthy dishes, local food, and Western food to primarily international guests.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef and kitchen team with daily food preparation

• Prepare ingredients according to recipes and portion standards

• Cook assigned menu items accurately and consistently

• Follow standardized recipes, plating guides, and kitchen procedures

• Maintain consistent taste, portion size, presentation, and food quality

• Complete mise en place before service

• Keep assigned kitchen stations clean and organized

• Follow food-safety, hygiene, labeling, and storage procedures

• Check ingredient freshness and report damaged or expired stock

• Follow FIFO procedures and help reduce food waste

• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing ingredients

• Communicate shortages, mistakes, or equipment problems immediately

• Support other kitchen staff during busy service periods

• Complete opening and closing duties

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Cook Helper, Cook, or similar kitchen position preferred

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques

• Experience with Western, healthy, or local cuisine is an advantage

• Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately

• Understands basic kitchen hygiene and food safety

• Able to work quickly while maintaining quality

• Responsible, disciplined, and willing to learn

• Able to work well as part of a kitchen team

• Able to accept corrections and improve performance

• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

• Willing to work in Ungasan, Bali

• Reliable transportation preferred
