The role
We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to keep our Napier laboratory running at its best. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the preventive and emergency maintenance of laboratory equipment and building services, as well as the design and construction of approved equipment and systems.

You'll work closely with the Laboratory Controller and lead a small maintenance team, including a Maintenance Assistant and contracted tradespeople, to deliver maintenance that minimises disruption to laboratory operations.

What you'll do

·         Lead, supervise and develop the maintenance team

·         Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment and building services

·         Troubleshoot and prioritise emergency repairs

·         Support continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, safety, and product quality

·         Design and oversee construction of new equipment, including automation and laboratory projects

·         Prepare budgets, purchase components and manage contractor relationships

What you'll bring

·         A relevant trade or engineering qualification

·         Proven experience in maintenance engineering, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting

·         Strong problem solving and diagnostic skills

·         A great attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Commitment to Health and Safety and continuous improvement
