Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with project-site visits as required
Starting Salary: IDR 22,000,000 gross per month
Performance & Salary Review: After three months, based on demonstrated technical capability and performance
About the Company
PT Bali Cahaya Makmur (BCM), trading as Markov Architecture, is establishing a multidisciplinary Architecture and Engineering Department in Bali. The department will provide coordinated architectural, structural, MEP and site-development solutions supported by BCM’s practical construction experience.
The Senior Structural Engineer will independently develop, calculate and document complete structural solutions. The position reports administratively to the Head of Architecture while retaining independent technical authority for structural-engineering decisions. The engineer will coordinate closely with the Senior Project Architect, MEP Engineers, Site Development Engineer, project managers and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Design and Analysis
Independently develop complete structural solutions based on architectural requirements, site conditions and project constraints.
Design reinforced-concrete, structural-steel and other applicable structural systems, including foundations, slabs, beams, columns, structural walls, retaining walls, swimming pools, water tanks, canopies and equipment bases.
Prepare the Structural Design Basis, including design criteria, structural systems, materials, loading assumptions and applicable codes.
Develop structural analytical models and calculate dead, live, wind, seismic, soil, equipment and other applicable loads and combinations.
Establish clear gravity and lateral load paths and verify strength, stability, drift, deflection, vibration, cracking, robustness and durability.
Calculate structural-member sizes, reinforcement and structural-steel requirements.
Check modelling assumptions, restraints, diaphragms, releases, stiffness modifiers, boundary conditions and load combinations.
Verify software results through manual calculations, independent checks and professional engineering judgement.
Evaluate alternative systems and optimise structural solutions without reducing safety, durability, serviceability or design performance.
Structural Documentation and Quality Control
Prepare complete Structural Calculation Reports and maintain auditable records of calculations, assumptions, models and revisions.
Produce construction-ready structural drawings, including plans, sections, details, reinforcement layouts, connections, schedules, specifications and design notes.
Ensure calculations, drawings, schedules and specifications are coordinated and consistent.
Check structural work prepared by junior engineers, drafters or external consultants before issue.
Multidisciplinary and Geotechnical Coordination
Coordinate structural requirements with architecture, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and site-development systems.
Identify structural conflicts, unsupported architectural elements, level discrepancies, uncoordinated penetrations and incomplete design information.
Coordinate openings, sleeves, shafts, equipment loads, plant areas and service routes before construction.
Review relevant soil-investigation and geotechnical information and coordinate foundation solutions with bearing capacity, settlement, groundwater, slope and site conditions.
Identify missing geotechnical information and cases requiring additional investigation or specialist geotechnical advice.
Construction Support and Existing Structures
Respond to structural RFIs and prepare supporting calculations, sketches and technical instructions.
Review reinforcement drawings, structural shop drawings, steel-fabrication drawings, relevant material submittals and structural method statements.
Consider construction-stage loads, formwork, shoring, back-propping and temporary stability.
Attend key structural inspections when required.
Assess structural deviations, damaged work, non-conformances and proposed remedial solutions.
Review proposed structural changes and verify through calculations that approved revisions remain safe and compliant.
Assess existing or partially completed structures where required and identify necessary testing, repair, strengthening or specialist review.
Confirm that as-built structural information reflects approved changes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or an equivalent recognised engineering discipline.
Minimum seven years of relevant professional structural-engineering experience. Exceptional candidates with five to six years may be considered only where their portfolio clearly demonstrates senior-level independent design capability.
Proven experience independently designing complete building structures rather than only preparing drawings or assisting another engineer.
Relevant higher education completed outside Indonesia or substantial and verifiable professional structural-engineering experience working overseas.
Candidates whose education and professional experience are both exclusively within Indonesia do not meet the required profile.
Strong written and spoken English.
Fluent Bahasa Indonesia.
Advanced AutoCAD capability.
Advanced ability in ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis or comparable professional structural-analysis software.
Strong knowledge of reinforced-concrete design, structural-steel design, seismic engineering, structural load paths, lateral-stability systems and foundation behaviour.
Ability to develop, review and explain structural analytical models and verify software output through manual calculations and independent checks.
Working knowledge of applicable Indonesian standards, including SNI 1726:2019, SNI 1727:2020, SNI 2847:2019, SNI 1729:2020, SNI 7860:2020, SNI 7972:2020 and SNI 8460:2017 where applicable.
Working knowledge of at least one relevant international code system, including ACI, ASCE and AISC standards or the applicable Eurocodes.
Understanding of reinforcement installation, formwork, shoring, concrete placement, steel fabrication, structural tolerances and construction-stage conditions.
Ability to produce accurate, coordinated and complete structural calculations and construction documentation.
Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain any Indonesian certification or professional registration required for assigned duties. The employee may not act as a registered signatory until the necessary credentials are active.
Proven track record supported by named projects, calculation reports, structural drawings, clear evidence of personal responsibility and verifiable professional references.
Strong Advantage
Master’s degree specialising in Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Active SKK Konstruksi Ahli Madya Rekayasa Konstruksi Bangunan Gedung, Jenjang 8, or a directly equivalent current LPJK-recognised classification.
Active Surat Tanda Registrasi Insinyur.
Insinyur Profesional Madya or higher professional status.
PII, HAKI, ASEAN Engineer, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer or recognised overseas professional registration.
Experience with international-standard villas, resorts, hotels, residential developments or commercial buildings.
Experience with difficult sites, sloping land, complex foundations or existing-structure strengthening.
Revit Structure, structural BIM coordination or SAFE capability.
Experience coordinating with international architects, consultants, developers or contractors.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a disciplined, technically strong and professionally accountable structural engineer who can explain and defend structural decisions, identify unsafe assumptions and deliver solutions that can be constructed correctly.
This position is not suitable for candidates who primarily work as CAD operators, rely entirely on software output, cannot independently perform structural calculations or cannot prove which parts of previous projects they personally designed.
