Operator Supervisor

Job Summary

The Operator Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising robotic machine operators to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent daily operations. This position manages shift activities, manpower allocation, machine performance, production output, operational quality, and compliance with company procedures.

The role also serves as the primary operational coordinator between the Operator, Engineering, Maintenance, and Management teams to ensure operational issues are resolved promptly and production targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership and Manpower Management

• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop a team of robotic machine operators.
• Organize daily manpower allocation based on operational requirements, workload, and employee availability.
• Prepare and manage operator shift schedules, attendance, leave, substitutions, and manpower adjustments.
• Conduct daily briefings before the shift begins and communicate operational targets, safety information, and work priorities.
• Monitor operator performance, discipline, productivity, attendance, and compliance with company policies.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
• Handle operational conflicts and escalate employee-related issues when necessary.

2. Robotic Machine Operations

• Supervise daily robotic machine operations and ensure all activities are performed according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Ensure robotic machines are operated safely, correctly, and efficiently.
• Monitor operational performance, including production output, machine utilization, downtime, cycle time, errors, and productivity.
• Identify operational deviations and take immediate corrective or preventive actions.
• Ensure production and operational targets are achieved within the required timeline.
• Verify that operators complete all operational checklists, logbooks, and shift handover records accurately.
• Ensure effective communication and handover between shifts.

3.  Troubleshooting and Technical Coordination

• Perform initial checks and basic technical troubleshooting when operational or machine issues occur.
• Analyze basic machine errors, operational abnormalities, and recurring technical issues.
• Provide immediate on-site operational solutions within the authorized level of responsibility.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance teams for machine troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure technical issues are properly recorded, communicated, followed up, and resolved.
• Monitor machine conditions after maintenance or troubleshooting activities before operations resume.
• Support root cause analysis for recurring downtime, machine errors, or operational failures.

4. Quality Control

• Ensure operational output and data quality meet company standards and customer requirements.
• Monitor product or data quality during each shift and identify any inconsistencies or defects.
• Investigate quality issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Ensure operators understand and consistently follow quality standards and inspection procedures.
• Coordinate with relevant departments regarding quality findings, non-conformities, and improvement actions.
• Maintain accurate records related to quality checks and operational deviations.

6. Health, Safety, and Environment

• Implement and maintain Health, Safety, and Environment standards within the operational area.
• Ensure all operators comply with safety procedures, work instructions, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
• Conduct regular checks to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe actions, and potential operational risks.
• Immediately report and follow up on accidents, near misses, equipment damage, and safety incidents.
• Promote safety awareness, operational discipline, cleanliness, and proper workplace organization.
• Ensure machines and work areas are safe before, during, and after operations.

7. Reporting and Administration

• Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Report production output, operator attendance, productivity, downtime, machine errors, quality issues, and operational constraints.
• Maintain shift records, operator performance data, machine logs, and incident documentation.
• Communicate significant operational issues and risks to the Operations Manager or relevant stakeholders.
• Provide data and operational insights to support management decision-making.
• Ensure all administrative and operational documentation is completed accurately and on time.

8. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and machine utilization.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and operational optimization initiatives.
• Recommend improvements to SOPs, workflows, manpower allocation, shift arrangements, and machine operations.
• Support the implementation of new robotic machines, systems, work processes, or operational procedures.
• Monitor the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and ensure consistent implementation by the operator team.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant field is preferred.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in operations, production, warehouse automation, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar supervisory role.
• Experience supervising operators or employees in a shift-based operational environment.
• Strong leadership, team management, coaching, and decision-making skills.
• Able to prepare and manage manpower planning, shift scheduling, attendance, and workload distribution.
• Basic understanding of robotic machinery, automation systems, production equipment, or industrial machinery is an advantage.
• Able to perform basic machine inspection and initial technical troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Able to work effectively under pressure and respond quickly to operational issues.
• Good communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to prepare operational reports and work with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, operational discipline, quality control, and SOP compliance.
• Willing to work on-site and support operational requirements as needed.
• Willing to work on weekends and public holidays according to the assigned shift schedule.

Working Schedule

• Willing to work under a rotating 12-hour shift system.
• The working schedule follows a **12-hour shift, 12-hour shift, one day off, 12-hour shift, 12-hour shift, one day off** rotation.
• Shift assignments may include day or night shifts depending on operational requirements.
• Employees must be available to work on weekends and public holidays when these dates fall within their assigned shift schedule.
