Aircraft Painter Technician

Job Description

• Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.

• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with paint removers to remove all paint.

• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.

• Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.

• Clean paint removers, excess paint, and contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes

• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.

• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.

• Perform touch-up work as required.

• Document work performed per Non Routine Worksheet

• Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.

• Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification.

Requirements

• 5 years experience with preparation and painting aircraft or equivalent preferred

• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and customer instructions

• Ability to mask corresponding areas of aircraft surface using appropriate materials and methods per operation

• Ability to prepare aircraft surface for paint, for example, sanding, grinding, buffing, sealing, application of putty, and Alodine to areas of aircraft surface
