Marine Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical)

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to support our vessel operations and ensure the reliability of all marine engines and onboard systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Main Engine (ME), Auxiliary Engine (AE), Marine Generators (Gensets), cargo pumps, ballast pumps, bilge pumps, fire pumps, seawater pumps, freshwater pumps, fuel oil pumps, lube oil pumps, hydraulic pumps*, and other onboard mechanical and electrical systems.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and operational requirements.

• Perform engine overhaul activities, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, turbocharger, intake and exhaust systems, and other related components.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion system failures to ensure safe and reliable vessel operations.

• Troubleshoot engine electrical systems, including starting and charging systems, alternators, batteries, wiring, sensors, engine control panels, PLCs, and monitoring systems.

• Install, inspect, test, and calibrate navigation and safety equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable maritime regulations.

• Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Attend vessel breakdowns, emergency repairs, commissioning, and dry docking activities.

• Ensure all machinery and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and OEM recommendations.

• Prepare maintenance reports and coordinate maintenance activities with the Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent, and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the shipping, marine, offshore, or shipyard industry with hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine mechanical and electrical systems.

• Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, generator and power systems, fuel, cooling, lubrication, hydraulic, propulsion, engine control, electrical systems, and onboard pumping systems.

• Experience with Main Engine (ME), Auxiliary Engine (AE), and Marine Generators (Gensets), including engine brands Caterpillar (CAT), Mitsubishi, Cummins, Yanmar, Weichai, and Lovol.

• Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion systems, as well as maintaining onboard auxiliary equipment and marine pumps.

• Able to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Skilled in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as multimeter, clamp meter, megger, insulation tester, and other relevant tools.

• Familiar with Planned Maintenance System (PMS), engine overhaul, dry docking, vessel commissioning, and emergency repair activities.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to supervise and develop a team.

• Based at our Batam Head Office and willing to travel/work onboard vessels, at shipyards, and port operations as required.
