Head of Workshop

The Head of Workshop directs the operations, technical standards, and mechanical staff across all regional workshops and field service depots. This leader ensures that repair facilities operate safely, turnaround times for major overhauls are minimized, and maintenance teams have the specialized tooling and skills required to maintain fleet reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations, scheduling, and workflow optimization across all assigned regional workshops and field repair bays.

• Oversee major component overhauls (e.g., engines, hydraulics, transmissions) to ensure repairs meet OEM specifications.

• Streamline workshop layouts and repair processes to accelerate machine throughput and reduce project downtime.

• Strategically deploy field service mechanics and specialized technicians to high-priority breakdowns across different project sites.

• Ensure all workshops are equipped with calibrated diagnostic tools, heavy lifting equipment, safety gear, and specialized machinery.

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for local OEM dealers (e.g., Trakindo, United Tractors) regarding complex warranties and technical support.

• Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure fast-moving parts and critical repair components are always stocked in the workshops.

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Workshop Supervisors, Master Mechanics, and apprentices.

• Maintain strict compliance with workshop safety protocols, hazard management, and environmental rules for hazardous waste disposal (e.g., used oil, batteries).

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (D3/D4) in Mechanical, Automotive, or Heavy Equipment Engineering.

• Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment mechanical repairs, with at least 3 years managing a multi-bay workshop or multiple service sites.

• Solid track record in mining, major civil construction, or large-scale equipment dealership networks.

• Willing to based in Merauke (No Roster).
