QA/QC Engineer

Key responsibilities :

• Conduct welding inspection in accordance with WPS, PQR, and WPQT requirements

• Perform dimensional, visual, and NDT inspections on fabricated structural steel components

• Monitor and control surface treatment and painting processes to ensure compliance with project specifications

• Maintain and manage material traceability documentation and identification throughout the fabrication process

• Prepare, implement, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)

• Issue and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Corrective Action Reports (CAR)

• Compile and prepare Manufacturing Data Records (MDR) for client submission

• Coordinate and facilitate client inspections, third-party audits, and surveillance visits

• Control and manage welding consumables in accordance with project requirements

• Oversee heat treatment (PWHT) processes and verify compliance with applicable standards

Requirements :

Education

• Bachelor's degree (S1) or Diploma (D3) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in QA/QC within the structural steel fabrication industry

• Candidates must have hands-on experience in all of the following areas :

1. Structural steel fabrication — familiarity with fabrication workflows, shop drawings, and fit-up inspection

2. Welding inspection — visual and documented inspection of welds per applicable codes (AWS, AS/NZS, CWB)

3. Surface treatment & painting inspection — blast profile, DFT measurement, and coating system verification

4. Dimensional inspection — checking tolerances and as-built dimensions against approved drawings

5. Material traceability — tracking and documenting mill certificates, heat numbers, and material identification

6. Client inspection & audit — coordinating witness points, hold points, and responding to client NCRs

Certifications :

• WI / WE — Welding Inspector or Welding Engineer certification Required

• NDT Level II (any method: UT, MT, PT, RT) Optional

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Optional
