About the role
SYC Philippine Corporation is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chinese Interpreter to join our administrative and office support team. This is a full-time position based in Pasig City, Metro Manila. In this role, you will serve as a critical communication bridge between our organisation and Chinese-speaking clients, partners, and stakeholders. You will facilitate clear and accurate communication across cultural and linguistic boundaries, ensuring that all parties understand each other precisely. This position is essential to maintaining strong business relationships and ensuring smooth operations across our diverse client base.
What you'll be doing
- Provide accurate interpretation services during meetings, conferences, and business negotiations between English and Chinese speakers
- Translate written documents, correspondence, and business materials from Chinese to English and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and context
- Assist in welcoming and liaising with Chinese-speaking clients and visitors, ensuring they receive professional and courteous service
- Support administrative staff in communicating with Chinese-speaking partners and stakeholders via email, telephone, and video calls
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive business information during interpretation activities
- Prepare briefing materials and background information to ensure effective interpretation of technical or specialised content
- Attend meetings, events, and business functions as required to provide real-time interpretation services
- Clarify cultural differences and nuances to facilitate better understanding between parties
- Maintain detailed records of interpretation sessions and translated documents as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks related to client management and communication coordination
What we're looking for
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese (or Cantonese), with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
- Proven experience as an interpreter or translator, preferably in a business or corporate environment
- Strong understanding of business terminology and concepts in both English and Chinese
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity with the ability to navigate cultural differences effectively
- Professional demeanour and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential business information
- High level of organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Preferably, formal qualifications or certification in interpretation or translation
- Knowledge of Philippine business culture and practices would be advantageous
