Position Summary
The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of electrical construction projects from project handover through commissioning and final client acceptance. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Lead and manage electrical construction projects from initiation to completion.
Develop project execution plans, schedules, and resource plans.
Coordinate electrical installation activities with civil, architectural, and mechanical disciplines.
Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to achieve project milestones.
Manage project risks and resolve technical and commercial issues.
Budget & Commercial Management
Prepare and monitor project budgets and cost forecasts.
Track project profitability and cash flow.
Manage change orders, variations, and contractual claims.
Review subcontractor and supplier payment applications.
Ensure effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Engineering & Technical Coordination
Review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
Coordinate procurement of electrical equipment and materials.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and client specifications.
Support value engineering initiatives where appropriate.
Oversee testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
Procurement & Subcontractor Management
Select, evaluate, and manage electrical subcontractors and suppliers.
Monitor procurement schedules to ensure timely material delivery.
Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) where applicable.
Quality Management
Ensure all electrical installations comply with approved drawings and quality standards.
Monitor inspections and testing activities.
Resolve non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
Ensure complete project documentation, including as-built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
Health, Safety & Environment
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture.
Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and local regulations.
Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments.
Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary contact for clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
Lead project meetings and provide regular progress reports.
Build strong client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
Project Close-Out
Manage commissioning and system handover.
Ensure completion of punch lists and defect rectification.
Obtain final project acceptance and close all contractual obligations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Professional Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage.
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical construction, with at least 3–5 years in project management.
Experience managing commercial, industrial, data center, infrastructure, or large building electrical projects.
Technical Knowledge
Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical systems.
Power distribution and switchgear.
Transformers and substations.
Lighting systems.
Emergency power and UPS systems.
Earthing and lightning protection.
Fire alarm systems.
ELV systems (CCTV, Access Control, Structured Cabling, BMS).
Testing, commissioning, and energization procedures.
Electrical codes and standards (IEC, NEC, or local regulations).
