About UMKMall

We're an early-stage edtech startup building foundational business education programs for UMKM owners in Indonesia. We recently launched our first courses and are actively learning from real user feedback as we shape the product.

About the Role

This is a front-end-focused software engineering role centered on our component library, the shared foundation everything else in our product is built on. You'll work closely with our designer to turn design decisions into well-crafted, reusable components, and then use those components to ship real features to real users.

It isn't purely front-end. You'll contribute to back-end work when a feature calls for it, and you'll have the opportunity to shape core product experiences, which may include AI-powered flows.

We're developing an AI-driven SDLC, so you'd be joining a team that's actively exploring forward-looking development practices.

How You'll Work

You'll collaborate closely with other engineers, our PM, and designer, plus relevant stakeholders depending on the project. This is a hybrid role based in Mega Kuningan (2-3 days/week in office, otherwise remote).

Our Stack

Next.js, TypeScript, React, TailwindCSS, Storybook, Supabase, Railway. We use AI coding tools extensively in our workflow.

What We're Looking For

We prioritize strong critical thinking, ownership, and learning ability over years of experience. A candidate who thinks clearly about user problems and picks up new tools quickly will thrive here.

Must Haves

• Ownership mindset: dedication to impacting users through quality software

• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS

• Design sensibility: an eye for spacing, hierarchy, and how an interface actually feels to use

• Openness to collaborating on features and making good design decisions for both users and architecture

• Comfort working across front-end and back-end

• Experience coding with AI tools (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)

• Strong working proficiency in English

Should Haves

• Experience building or maintaining a component library or design system

• Judgment to evaluate design trade-offs given product stage and company goals

• Experience documenting components in Storybook or a similar tool

• Working knowledge of accessibility fundamentals (keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, ARIA)

• Experience with Node.js backend services

• Experience launching features to active users

• 2+ years of experience

Nice-to-Haves

• Previous startup experience

• Experience building AI-powered software

• Interest in front-end performance, motion, or responsive design at scale
