We are looking for volunteer tutors that would love to inspire youth! If you feel called to action, want to be a mentor, and want to improve your teaching skills, this is the perfect opportunity. In this role you will be providing FREE online tutoring to low income students. You will help students improve academically, will cultivate their interest in learning, and help them to feel connected to a larger community. You will be working with a student going into 2nd-8th grade (ages 7-14) from underfunded schools.
College students encouraged to apply!
To ensure the safety of students and their families all tutors must complete a Live Scan fingerprinting background check.
Tutor responsibilities are:
Conduct lessons online (minimum of two hours per week)
Manage scheduling with the student's family
Commit to a semester/grading period
Provide feedback to Step Up Tutoring, parents, and teachers
Participate in a 1 hour online training
Monitor students’ academic progress and engagement
Tutor requirements are:
Solid internet access
Organized, energetic, and committed
Bachelors Degree (or in progress)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Fingerprinting background check
Enjoy working with kids!
Tutors are asked to pay for their own fingerprinting/background check. In certain cases of need, Step Up Tutoring may subsidize the cost of the background check. Estimated cost is $75-100.
Note: You will be submitting video responses in the application and Chrome is required to complete. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes to complete.
