Job Summary
The Telecommunications Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting an organization's telecommunications infrastructure. This role ensures reliable and secure voice, data, video, and wireless communication services by managing telecommunication systems, troubleshooting technical issues, coordinating with service providers, and recommending improvements to optimize network performance and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and support telecommunications systems, including VoIP, PBX, unified communications, and video conferencing solutions.
- Monitor the performance, availability, and reliability of voice and data communication systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve telecommunications, network, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with telecommunications vendors and internet service providers for installations, upgrades, repairs, and service requests.
- Maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, gateways, modems, and related communication devices.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage user accounts, phone extensions, call routing, voicemail, and communication services.
- Document system configurations, network diagrams, maintenance activities, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, security standards, and industry best practices.
- Evaluate new telecommunications technologies and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
