What You Will Do

As a Junior Forward Deployed Engineer at WidaTech, you will work closely with both clients and internal teams to solve real operational and business problems through technology.

You will be involved from understanding the problem, discussing solutions with stakeholders, all the way to building and deploying the solution itself. This role is not only about coding, but you will also need to communicate well, think critically, and adapt quickly to different client environments and industries.

At WidaTech, we actively use AI tools as part of our development workflow. You will be expected to leverage tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and others to improve productivity, speed up development, and help deliver better solutions for clients.

You'll work closely with senior engineers on client projects, gaining hands-on experience while gradually taking ownership of smaller, well-scoped initiatives as your skills and confidence grow. If you enjoy solving problems, learning quickly, and building things that are actually used by people, this role will suit you well.

Key Responsibilities:

Here are some of the things you'll be involved in as a Junior Forward Deployed Engineer at WidaTech:

• Work directly with clients (remote or on-site) to understand their workflows, operational challenges, and technical requirements.

• Design, develop, and deploy software solutions based on client needs, including backend systems, APIs, frontend applications, integrations, and data processing.

• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) as part of the daily development workflow for coding, debugging, documentation, and research.

• Build and integrate AI-powered solutions such as LLM integrations, AI agents, automation workflows, and RAG pipelines where relevant to the client’s use cases.

• Translate business and operational requirements into technical solutions together with WidaTech’s business teams.

• Conduct discovery sessions and technical discussions with stakeholders to understand current processes and identify improvement opportunities.

• Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions based on feedback and changing requirements.

• Integrate solutions with existing client systems, third-party platforms, enterprise software, and cloud services.

• Own technical delivery from development until production deployment, including testing, documentation, and handover to client teams.

• Identify technical risks or implementation challenges early and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.

• Support pre-sales and solutioning discussions through technical recommendations, estimations, and proof-of-concept development.

• Participate in code reviews and maintain good engineering practices across projects.

• Document solutions, system architecture, and implementation details properly for future maintenance and scalability.

• Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and industry knowledge to improve both individual and team capabilities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

• 0–2 years of hands-on software engineering experience.

• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, Go) and experience building and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) as part of regular development workflows.

• Comfortable with frontend development (React, Vue, or similar) and able to build functional, user-facing interfaces when needed.

• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly in live, production-facing environments.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects in parallel while maintaining quality.

• Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements; you adapt quickly and bring structure to undefined problems.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) or other Asian languages is a strong plus given our regional client base.

• Must be able to travel and work on-site with clients when required.

• A genuine passion for understanding business problems and using technology, especially AI, as a lever to solve them.

Good to have:

• Experience in startups, consulting, freelance projects, or fast-paced environments is a plus.

• Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Hands-on experience building or integrating AI-powered features: LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), RAG pipelines, AI agents, or ML model serving.

• Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and experience deploying applications to cloud environments.

• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, including data modeling and query optimization.

• Familiarity with agile workflows, Git, CI/CD, and collaborative development practices
