Position Summary
As a startup company, the General Accountant is expected to be adaptable, hands-on, and capable of working independently while helping establish efficient accounting processes and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
· Prepare and record journal entries accurately and on time.
· Maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
· Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
· Reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
· Prepare monthly financial reports for management.
Accounts Payable
· Process supplier invoices and payment requests.
· Verify supporting documents before payment.
· Monitor due dates and maintain vendor records.
Accounts Receivable
· Prepare customer billing and invoices.
· Monitor collections and follow up on overdue accounts.
· Reconcile customer accounts.
Tax Compliance
· Prepare and assist in filing:
o VAT
o Withholding Taxes
o Expanded Withholding Tax
o Income Tax
· Coordinate with external auditors and government agencies.
· Ensure compliance with BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG requirements.
Project Accounting
· Track project costs for solar installations.
· Monitor project budgets versus actual expenses.
· Coordinate with Procurement and Project Management regarding project expenditures.
· Prepare project cost reports and profitability analysis.
Inventory & Fixed Assets
· Monitor inventory movement.
· Record inventory transactions.
· Maintain fixed asset register.
· Conduct periodic inventory reconciliation.
Payroll Support
· Assist in payroll preparation.
· Verify employee reimbursements and allowances.
· Ensure proper recording of payroll expenses.
Internal Controls
· Maintain proper filing of accounting documents.
· Ensure compliance with company policies.
· Recommend improvements to accounting procedures.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or related field.
· Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
· Experience in construction, engineering, renewable energy, or EPC companies is an advantage.
· Knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
· Familiarity with BIR regulations and Philippine tax compliance.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or similar).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Able to work independently in a startup environment.
