Bureau Veritas is seeking a rigorous, highly resilient, and structured Compliance & Legal Officer. In this role, you will act as the key liaison between the regional legal/compliance governance and local operations in Indonesia. You will bear a dual responsibility: managing commercial legal risks locally (contract management and advisory) while robustly upholding global compliance standards (ethics, investigations, and corporate governance) within a dynamic, matrix multinational environment.
Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate client, vendor, and partner contracts to ensure full alignment with Bureau Veritas global policies and local Indonesian laws.
Compliance & Ethics: Lead and support internal investigations related to whistleblowing and Code of Ethics breaches; deliver structured compliance training to internal local stakeholders.
Corporate Governance: Manage corporate registers, oversee company licensing, and provide administrative and legal support for Board of Directors and Company Secretary activities.
Legal Advisory & Labor Law: Provide generalist legal advice covering property, IP, insurance, and disputes. Act as the internal subject matter expert on Indonesian Labor Law to mitigate employment risks.
Stakeholder Liaison: Partner effectively with local business units to facilitate growth while ensuring uncompromising adherence to global guidelines; provide regular compliance reporting to the Regional Head.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Sarjana Hukum) from a reputable university.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in Corporate Legal or Compliance roles.
Industry Background: Prior experience working within a multinational company (MNC) or a matrix reporting structure is highly preferred.
Language: Professional fluency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory for global reporting, regional collaboration, and contract drafting.
Strong, up-to-date exposure to Indonesian Labor Law (UU Ketenagakerjaan / UU Cipta Kerja).
Proven track record or exposure in handling corporate compliance and structured internal investigations.
Sharp legal drafting, commercial acumen, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently as the local representative while aligning closely with remote regional leadership.
High Resilience & Objectivity: Proven ability to maintain strict ethical stance, objectivity, and work under pressure in high-stakes or conflicting situations.
Critical Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills to dissect complex legal/compliance concepts and provide actionable, risk-mitigated solutions.
Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills to manage expectations, influence firmly, and build relationships across both local operations and regional management.
