You would develop economic valuation for Indonesia's mining and natural resource sector, from the value of reserves and production to the environmental and social costs of extraction, mine closure liabilities and the case for sustainable practice. The work is remote, based in Jakarta, and open to different expertise levels and engagement schemes.

Sirkularium is an Indonesian consultancy for the environment, working across three practices: Waste and Pollution, Energy and Climate, and Sustainable Resources. The Sustainable Resources practice supports government and industry on responsible mining, natural resource management, environmental economics and land remediation.

Sirkularium has worked with a Danish government institution, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, under the Strategic Sector Cooperation programme. This gives the team direct experience with international governance and reporting standards.

Your role

As an Economic Valuation Specialist you build the economic case around Indonesia's mineral resources. You quantify the value of resources and production, and put credible figures on the environmental and social costs and benefits of mining, so decisions are made on sound economics.

What you will do

• Develop economic valuation (valuasi ekonomi) of mineral resources, reserves and production for the mining sector
• Quantify the environmental and social costs and benefits of mining, including externalities and natural capital
• Carry out cost-benefit and economic feasibility analysis for projects, policies and closure plans
• Estimate mine closure and post-mining liabilities and the economics of reclamation
• Build valuation models and support natural resource and environmental cost accounting
• Advise government and industry on resource pricing, incentives and the economic case for sustainable practice
• Deliver dissemination: reports, briefings and workshops that translate valuation results for decision-makers 

Expertise levels

• Associate: Bachelor (S1) in economics, resource or environmental economics, or a related field, up to 3 years of experience. Focus: data, modelling and analysis support.
• Specialist: Bachelor or Master (S1 / S2), 3 to 7 years of experience. Focus: leads valuation studies and models.
• Senior Specialist: Master (S2), or Bachelor with a strong track record, 8+ years of experience. Focus: leads valuation strategy; principal advisor.
• What you will do
