Position Summary
The Veterans Disability Case Manager is responsible for developing and preparing written work product in support of veterans' disability claims and appeals. Working under attorney-directed case strategy, this role reviews medical records, military service records, VA decisions, and supporting evidence to develop persuasive written arguments and supporting documentation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys spending most of their day reading, analyzing, researching, and writing. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality work in a high-volume environment. This is a largely independent role with remote work opportunities and significant autonomy for high performers.
Key Responsibilities
Case Analysis
- Review VA decisions, rating decisions, denial letters, and claim files
- Analyze medical records, military records, and supporting evidence
- Identify evidence supporting claimed conditions and theories of entitlement
- Recognize evidentiary gaps and opportunities to strengthen claims
- Apply attorney-developed case strategy to individual cases
- Organize complex information into logical and persuasive case narratives
Technical & Legal Writing
- Draft written arguments supporting veterans' disability claims and appeals
- Prepare case summaries, legal memoranda, issue analyses, and supporting documentation
- Develop written narratives connecting evidence to legal theories
- Translate complex medical and military records into clear, organized written advocacy
- Produce accurate, professional, and technically sound work product at a high volume
- Revise and improve written work based on attorney feedback
Evidence Development & Research
- Review and analyze evidence relevant to disability claims
- Research VA regulations, rating criteria, and legal authorities
- Review medical literature and technical materials when appropriate
- Assist in identifying additional evidence needed to strengthen claims
- Support attorneys through factual and legal research
Quality & Productivity
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail across all work product
- Manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
- Ensure work complies with firm standards and attorney direction
- Meet productivity expectations while maintaining quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of case preparation processes

Qualifications
Required
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills

- Experience in deadline-driven professional environments
Preferred
- Experience in legal writing, technical writing, claims writing, compliance writing, insurance, healthcare, or similar professional writing roles
- Experience reviewing and analyzing medical records
- Understanding of medical terminology, diagnoses, and treatment records
- Familiarity with veterans disability law and VA claims processes
- Understanding of VA regulations and disability rating criteria
- Military experience or familiarity with military culture
- Experience with legal case management systems
