Junior Full Stack Developer (AI Tools & Automation)
Reports to: Head of Programs
Location: Richmond, Victoria (Hybrid)
Type: Full-time
About Generation AI
Generation AI is a Victorian Government funded initiative delivered by Boab AI to help first-time founders, students, developers, and founding teams build AI startups.
The free program supports participants to validate ideas, build early products, and prepare for investment through practical workshops, mentoring, and thousands of dollars worth of free credits from companies like OpenAI, GitHub, Supabase, and Notion.
Participants also join a growing founder network of hundreds of AI builders, entrepreneurs, mentors, and startup ecosystem supporters.
About the Role
We’re looking for a junior full stack developer who’s passionate about coding, hungry to learn, and excited by the potential of AI, automation, and startup building.
You don’t need deep AI experience. Just strong programming ability, curiosity and a willingness to experiment with new tools.
You’ll work closely with the Generation AI team to build, improve, and maintain digital tools that support founders through the program journey.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to rapidly grow their technical skills in a collaborative, fast-moving startup environment while working on projects that support the next generation of AI founders.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop, test, and maintain web applications, internal tools, and automation workflows that support the Generation AI program.
Build front-end components and back-end APIs using modern frameworks and languages such as React, Node.js, TypeScript, or Python.
Help improve the digital experience for founders across applications, onboarding, program delivery, learning resources, office hours, demo day preparation, and post-program support.
Learn how to integrate AI tools and APIs, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and related platforms, into practical workflows.
Support internal automation projects that improve program operations, reporting, founder engagement, and team productivity.
Assist with data, API, and workflow integrations across tools used by the program team.
Participate in code reviews, documentation, GitHub workflows, and version control processes.
Contribute ideas to improve user experience, operational efficiency, and the overall founder journey.
What We’re Looking For
You’re curious about AI and eager to explore how it can support founders, startups, and real-world products.
You have a strong proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
You understand modern web development, including REST APIs, responsive UI, version control, and basic deployment workflows.
You’re excited by startup environments and enjoy building practical tools that people actually use.
You’re self-driven, resourceful, and comfortable learning quickly.
You enjoy working in a small, collaborative team where priorities can move fast.
Nice to Have
Exposure to AI APIs, chatbots, agents, or automation tools.
Experience building internal tools, prototypes, or startup-style products.
Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working with no-code or low-code tools.
Interest in startups, venture building, founder education, or early-stage product development.
Experience with learning platforms, community platforms, CRM systems, or program delivery tools.
Why Join Generation AI
This is a chance to grow your technical skills while working at the centre of Australia’s emerging AI startup ecosystem.
You’ll get hands-on exposure to AI tools, automation workflows, full-stack development, founder-facing product design, and the systems behind a fast-moving startup program.
You’ll work alongside experienced startup operators, investors, program leaders, and AI practitioners while helping founders validate ideas, build early products, prepare for demo day, and launch new AI ventures.
You’ll be part of a small, energetic team that values curiosity, initiative, creativity, and practical execution.
Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of larger technical projects and contribute directly to the tools that support thousands of emerging AI founders.
Salary Range: $85,000–$110,000 AUD + Superannuation
