The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to become the technical authority for our hyperscale data center operations in Indonesia. This role is ideal for an engineering professional who combines deep expertise in critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure with a passion for technical leadership, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement. As the highest technical authority within the facility, you will provide engineering governance, technical standardization, and advanced troubleshooting support to ensure our mission-critical infrastructure consistently meets world-class availability and performance standards. Working closely with the Engineering operation team, Facility Operation Manager and Campus Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing engineering capability, improving operational reliability, and supporting the expansion of TERA's next generation hyperscale data center platform.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, the Field Engineer serves as the senior technical expert responsible for engineering excellence across the assigned data center.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide technical leadership for all critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Serve as the highest technical escalation point for complex engineering issues and mission-critical incidents.
• Lead advanced troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action implementation.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, technical procedures, and operational best practices.
• Review and approve engineering documentation, including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, maintenance strategies, and technical risk assessments.
• Support commissioning, integrated system testing (IST), infrastructure upgrades, and operational readiness for new facilities.
• Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize asset reliability and lifecycle performance.
• Monitor equipment health, reliability trends, and engineering KPIs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and company operational policies.
• Collaborate with Facility Managers, Project Engineers, OEMs, and vendors to optimize infrastructure performance.
Technical Leadership Responsibilities
The Field Engineer is responsible for strengthening the technical capability of the engineering organization by promoting engineering discipline, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide technical coaching and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Establish engineering governance and technical standardization across all facilities.
• Lead engineering reviews for major maintenance activities and infrastructure modifications.
• Develop technical competency frameworks and specialized engineering training programs.
• Support incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future operational practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend engineering improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data center operations or other mission-critical facilities, including:
o Data Centers
o Power Plants
o Semiconductor Manufacturing
o Oil & Gas
o Mining
o Aviation
o Hospitals
o Public Safety Infrastructure
• Minimum 5 years of experience in senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience supporting commissioning, operation, maintenance, and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems within a 24×7 operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems, including:
o High-medium and low-voltage power distribution
o UPS systems
o Diesel generators
o Chillers, Air- or water-cooling system
o CRAC/CRAH units
o Liquid cooling systems
o Fire Suppression System
o Pumps and Water Treatment Systems
o Fire Detection and Fire Suppression Systems
o Building Management System (BMS)
o Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
o DCIM Platforms
• Experience operating hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering, asset lifecycle management, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring.
• Experience leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Correction of error (COE), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Passion for mentoring engineers and building technical capability across the organization.
