Job Purpose:
The Logistics Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement,
distribution, storage, and delivery of goods and materials. This role ensures
timely and cost-effective transportation operations while maintaining
compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Logistics
Officer works closely with suppliers, transport providers, warehouses, and
internal departments to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Logistics Coordination
- Plan and coordinate the transportation and delivery of goods, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor shipment schedules and ensure on-time delivery to customers or project sites.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, carriers, and couriers regarding shipment status.
- Arrange transportation and logistics services based on operational requirements.
Documentation and Compliance
- Prepare and maintain logistics documentation, including delivery notes, purchase orders shipping documents, and customs paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with company policies,safety standards, and government regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and logistics activities.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Evaluate logistics service providers and recommend improvements when necessary.
- Resolve issues related to deliveries, transportation, and supplier performance.
Reporting and Cost Control
- Monitor logistics expenses and assist in controlling transportation and warehousing costs.
- Prepare logistics reports, shipment tracking reports, and performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce logistics costs.
Customer and Internal Support
- Respond to inquiries regarding shipment status and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement, finance,operations, and other departments to support business requirements.
- Address and resolve logistics-related issues in a timely manner.
Personnel Scheduling and Field Operations Support
- Prepare and manage delivery personnel schedules and deployment plans.
- Monitor delivery personnel attendance, movement, and field activities.
- Review and coordinate travel itineraries and accommodations.
- Prepare and process travel allowances and related expenses.
- Coordinate and monitor vehicle maintenance, repairs, and registrations.
- Maintain records of personnel assignments, itineraries, and allowances.
- Coordinate manpower requirements and resolve scheduling issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of logistics processes, inventory management, and transportation regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems is an advantage.
