Mandarin Translator

About the role

We are seeking a Mandarin Translator to join us in a full-time capacity based in Jakarta Selatan, Jakarta. This is a strategic administrative role that plays a vital part in facilitating communication between our organisation and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, partners, and clients. As a Mandarin Translator, you will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and effective translation of documents, correspondence, and communications, supporting the smooth operation of our business activities and international relations.

Key responsibilities

1. Translating documents, emails, reports, and correspondence from Mandarin Chinese to English and vice versa with accuracy and cultural sensitivity

2. Assisting HRGA role including but not limited to handle recruitment, onboarding, and employee administration. Also responsible to ensure office facilities, cleanliness, pantry, and working environment are well maintained.

3. Coordination with relevant departments to clarify context and ensure accurate translation of technical or specialised content

4. Providing real-time interpretation during meetings, conferences, and negotiations with Mandarin-speaking partners and clients

5. Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive business communications and proprietary information

6. Willing to work under new project/tenants.

What we're looking for

1. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional) and English, with near-native proficiency in both languages

2. Proven experience as a professional translator or interpreter, preferably with 2+ years in a business or corporate environment

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail

4. Knowledge of business terminology and industry-specific language, particularly in manufacturing, industrial, or logistics sectors

5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple translation projects simultaneously whilst meeting tight deadlines

6. Cultural awareness and sensitivity to nuances in cross-cultural communication

7. Proficiency in translation software and Microsoft Office applications

8. Professional certification in translation or interpreting (desirable)

9. Excellent organisational and time management skills

10. Discretion and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
