About the role
PT Baramutiara Prima is seeking an experienced Mine Technical & Development (MTD) Manager to join our operations team in South Sumatra. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in driving technical excellence and sustainable development across our mining operations. The MTD Manager will be responsible for overseeing technical strategies, optimizing mining processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards whilst contributing to the long-term growth and profitability of the organization. This role reports to senior management and requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on operational expertise.
Key responsibilities
Manage all Mine Technical Development functions including mine planning, geology & exploration, survey, geotechnical, coal quality management, mine technical support
Develop and implement technical strategies and mine development plans to maximize resource recovery and operational efficiency.
Oversee geotechnical assessments, mine geology, and resource modelling to support planning and decision-making
Monitor and optimize mining methods, extraction techniques, and equipment utilization to enhance productivity and safety performance
Manage feasibility studies, mine engineering projects, and capital development initiatives from conception through implementation
Ensure compliance with mining regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety requirements across all technical operations
Lead the technical team, including geologists, engineers, and technicians, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and planning teams to resolve technical challenges and improve operational performance
Conduct regular audits and reviews of mining practices to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity enhancement
Prepare technical reports, performance metrics, and recommendations for senior management
Manage relationships with external contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies on technical matters
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable
Minimum 10-12 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 8 years in a technical or supervisory management role
Strong knowledge of mining methods, equipment, geology, and resource estimation techniques relevant to underground or open-pit mining
Proven expertise in mine planning, feasibility studies, and capital project delivery within the mining industry
Strong understanding of Indonesia mining regulations, environmental compliance, RKAB and K3 mining requirements.
Solid understanding of mining regulations, environmental compliance, and health and safety standards in Indonesia or similar jurisdictions
Proficiency in mine planning software (Minescape, Surpac,Vulcan,Minex, Datamine, 3D modelling tools) and data management systems
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical solutions and operational efficiency
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to diverse stakeholders
High level of integrity, reliability, and commitment to safe working practices and environmental stewardship
Flexibility to work in remote locations and willingness to undertake site visits as required
