Main tasks focus on guest experience, managing bookings, and maintaining a welcoming, social atmosphere.
Key duties : include checking guests in/out, processing payments, offering local recommendations, conducting hostel tours, managing social events, and addressing guest needs.
Receptionists act as the main point of contact, balancing administrative duties with social engagement.
Key Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
Guest Check-in/Check-out: Welcoming guests, creating a positive first impression, verifying reservations, and processing payments.
Reservation Management: Handling phone, email, and online bookings, along with managing walk-ins.
Information Hub & Concierge: Providing information on local attractions, directions, transport, and giving hostel tours to explain facilities like kitchens and lounges.
Social & Community Hub: Fostering a friendly environment, which often includes organizing nightly activities or happy hours.
Administrative Duties: Using Property Management Systems (PMS) to track bookings, managing room assignments, and updating records.
Security & Safety: Managing room keys, door codes, and enforcing hostel rules.
Cleaning & Maintenance: Ensuring the reception area is tidy and reporting maintenance issues to the appropriate team
