ABOUT ALPHA STORY

Alpha Story is an AI-powered PR and communications firm headquartered in Southeast Asia, operating across Southeast Asia with a growing presence in Indonesia. We help businesses, from growth-stage startups to established enterprises, turn their stories into guaranteed media coverage across the region's top publications.

In Indonesia, we operate as PT Alpha Story Indonesia, based in Jakarta. Our Indonesia team works closely with our regional colleagues to deliver campaigns, manage client relationships, and build market presence across the region. We are a lean, fast-moving team, and we take operations seriously. The work we do for clients depends on a clean, well-run back office.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a General Affairs officer to handle finance, HR, and administrative duties to join our Jakarta team of four and serve as the operational backbone of Alpha Story Indonesia. This is a combined role spanning finance and accounting, human resources administration, and general office management. It is not a siloed position.  The right person will own all three areas and be comfortable switching between them.

You will work directly with the finance and HR teams at our regional headquarters, act as the official liaison between PT Alpha Story Indonesia and our local holding group, and work closely with an external tax consultant to ensure full compliance with Indonesian regulatory requirements. You will be overseen by the holding group's finance team on all compliance matters.

This is a finance-first role suited to someone who is highly organized, has experience in accounting and bookkeeping, and is comfortable operating in a small team where ownership and initiative matter more than hierarchy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance & Accounting

- Maintain a large and active book of transactions, ensuring all records are accurate, up to date, and audit-ready at all times

- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including issuing invoices, tracking collections, and processing vendor payments

- Operate and reconcile payment processor accounts, including Xendit, Xero, and other digital payment platforms used by the company

- Prepare monthly financial reports and cash flow summaries for review by the Country Lead and the holding group finance team

- Liaise with the external tax consultant to ensure timely filing of PPh, PPN, and all other applicable Indonesian tax obligations

- Coordinate with the Southeast Asia finance team to ensure cross-border transactions, intercompany billing, and reporting are aligned

- Maintain organized records of all financial documentation for internal review and external audit purposes

- Flag any compliance risks, unusual transactions, or cash flow concerns proactively

HR & People Administration

- Manage HR administration for the Indonesia team, including employment contracts, onboarding documentation, leave tracking, and personnel records

- Coordinate payroll processing and ensure accuracy of monthly salary disbursements in line with Indonesian labour law

- Support recruitment administration as the team grows, including offer letters, reference checks, and onboarding logistics

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Indonesian employment regulations (UU Ketenagakerjaan) and flag relevant changes to management

- Liaise with the regional HR team on cross-border HR matters, regional policies, and reporting requirements

- Manage BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan registrations, contributions, and reporting

General Administration & Liaison

- Serve as the official liaison between PT Alpha Story Indonesia and the local holding group, ensuring documentation, approvals, and communications flow smoothly

- Manage general office administration for the Jakarta team, including vendor relationships, office supplies, and facilities coordination

- Support the Country Lead with administrative tasks, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management

- Ensure all statutory filings, company licences, and legal documentation for PT Alpha Story Indonesia remain current and compliant

- Coordinate with external legal and corporate secretarial advisors as required

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or combined finance-admin role

- A background with meaningful depth in finance or accounting is strongly preferred. This role is finance-first, though admin is a key component.

- Experience working in or with a small team or startup environment is a strong advantage.

- Prior experience as a company liaison to a holding group, parent company, or external compliance body is highly desirable.

- Familiarity with Indonesian tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements is essential.

- Experience with digital payment platforms, particularly Xendit, is a significant advantage

- Exposure to accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent) is preferred.

- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Skills & Attributes

- Full professional fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English is an absolute requirement. You will communicate daily with teams in Southeast Asia, as well as local partners and government bodies in Jakarta.

- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.

- Comfortable operating in a lean team where you will often be the only person handling finance and admin matters.

- Discreet and trustworthy; this role involves access to sensitive financial and personnel information.

- Proactive communicator who surfaces problems early rather than waiting to be asked.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

WHAT WE OFFER

- A pivotal role in a fast-growing regional company at an exciting point in its expansion in Indonesia

- Close collaboration with the regional teams across finance, HR, and operations

- Direct access to and visibility with senior leadership
