Key Responsibilities

Safety Management & Compliance

• Implement and maintain the company's HSE Management System in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and local OHS regulations (e.g., SMK3 / PP No. 50/2012, UU No. 1/1970).

• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, fire, and environmental permits and reporting obligations.

• Conduct and lead regular HSE inspections, audits, and management walkthroughs; track findings to closure.

• Develop, review, and update safety procedures, SOPs, JSAs, and work instructions specific to battery production processes (electrode coating, cell assembly, formation, dry room, electrolyte filling).

Risk Assessment & Process Safety

• Lead Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/HIRADC) for all process areas, with particular focus on lithium battery-specific hazards.

• Oversee chemical safety for hazardous materials (electrolytes, solvents such as NMP, lithium compounds, cobalt/nickel powders); maintain the chemical register and SDS system.

• Administer the Permit-to-Work system

• Monitor dry-room and controlled-atmosphere area safety, dust/particulate exposure, and industrial hygiene.

Incident Management

• Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations using root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone); develop and verify corrective and preventive actions.

• Maintain incident reporting, statistics, and trend analysis; report performance to management.

• Coordinate emergency response, evacuation drills, and ERT (Emergency Response Team) training and readiness.

Environmental Management

• Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including handling, storage, manifesting, and licensed disposal of battery-related waste.

• Monitor environmental aspects and impacts — wastewater, air emissions, solvent recovery, and effluent — and ensure regulatory limits are met.

• Support environmental permit compliance and reporting to authorities.

Training & Culture

• Develop and deliver HSE induction, toolbox talks, and competency-based training programs..

Contractor & Stakeholder Management

• Manage contractor HSE qualification, induction, and on-site compliance.

• Liaise with regulators, certification bodies, insurers, and internal departments during audits and inspections.

• Support new equipment, line installation, and Management of Change (MOC) reviews from an HSE perspective.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

• 3–5 years of HSE experience in manufacturing; experience in battery, chemical, or process industries strongly preferred.

• Recognized HSE certification — e.g., Ahli K3 Umum (AK3U), NEBOSH IGC, or equivalent. Specialist certifications (fire, chemical, environmental, first aid) are an advantage.

• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001; internal auditor certification preferred.
