Key Responsibilities
Safety Management & Compliance
Implement and maintain the company's HSE Management System in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and local OHS regulations (e.g., SMK3 / PP No. 50/2012, UU No. 1/1970).
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, fire, and environmental permits and reporting obligations.
Conduct and lead regular HSE inspections, audits, and management walkthroughs; track findings to closure.
Develop, review, and update safety procedures, SOPs, JSAs, and work instructions specific to battery production processes (electrode coating, cell assembly, formation, dry room, electrolyte filling).
Risk Assessment & Process Safety
Lead Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/HIRADC) for all process areas, with particular focus on lithium battery-specific hazards.
Oversee chemical safety for hazardous materials (electrolytes, solvents such as NMP, lithium compounds, cobalt/nickel powders); maintain the chemical register and SDS system.
Administer the Permit-to-Work system
Monitor dry-room and controlled-atmosphere area safety, dust/particulate exposure, and industrial hygiene.
Incident Management
Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations using root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone); develop and verify corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain incident reporting, statistics, and trend analysis; report performance to management.
Coordinate emergency response, evacuation drills, and ERT (Emergency Response Team) training and readiness.
Environmental Management
Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including handling, storage, manifesting, and licensed disposal of battery-related waste.
Monitor environmental aspects and impacts — wastewater, air emissions, solvent recovery, and effluent — and ensure regulatory limits are met.
Support environmental permit compliance and reporting to authorities.
Training & Culture
Develop and deliver HSE induction, toolbox talks, and competency-based training programs..
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
Manage contractor HSE qualification, induction, and on-site compliance.
Liaise with regulators, certification bodies, insurers, and internal departments during audits and inspections.
Support new equipment, line installation, and Management of Change (MOC) reviews from an HSE perspective.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of HSE experience in manufacturing; experience in battery, chemical, or process industries strongly preferred.
Recognized HSE certification — e.g., Ahli K3 Umum (AK3U), NEBOSH IGC, or equivalent. Specialist certifications (fire, chemical, environmental, first aid) are an advantage.
Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001; internal auditor certification preferred.
