About the role
PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park is seeking a Shipping Operation Supervisor to join our team in South Jakarta. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing daily shipping operations at our facility. As Shipping Operation Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant maritime logistics operations whilst maintaining the highest standards of service delivery. This role is integral to our operational success and directly supports our commitment to excellence in rail and maritime transport logistics.
Key responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily shipping operations, including vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and port logistics
Monitor and ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, safety protocols, and company policies
Manage vessel documentation, cargo manifests, and shipping records to maintain accurate operational records
Coordinate with port authorities, shipping agents, customs officials, and other maritime stakeholders
Oversee cargo loading and unloading operations, ensuring proper stowage and safety measures
Train, supervise, and evaluate shipping operations staff to maintain high performance standards
Manage vessel maintenance schedules and coordinate with maintenance teams
Monitor inventory levels and manage shipping supplies and equipment
Prepare operational reports and analyse shipping metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
Respond to operational emergencies and resolve issues promptly to minimise disruption
Maintain communication with logistics teams, vessel captains, and senior management regarding operational status
What we're looking for
Minimum 8 years of experience in shipping operations, maritime logistics, or port management
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a shipping or logistics environment
Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, international shipping practices, and port procedures
Proficiency in shipping documentation and cargo management systems
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols in maritime operations
Computer literacy, including experience with shipping software and Microsoft Office applications
Problem-solving ability and sound decision-making skills under pressure
Fluency in English and Indonesian (additional languages are advantageous)
Relevant certifications or qualifications in shipping, logistics, or maritime operations (preferred)
