School Counselor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate School Counselor to join Yayasan Pendidikan Saint Peter in Jakarta Utara. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting the holistic development and wellbeing of our students. As a School Counselor, you will be instrumental in creating a supportive learning environment, addressing student concerns, and fostering positive mental health and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students addressing academic, social, emotional, and personal concerns

2. Develop and implement counselling programmes and interventions aligned with students' developmental needs and school objectives

3. Collaborate with teachers, parents and other school staff to monitor student progress and ensure coordinated support

4. Maintain confidential and accurate counselling records in compliance with professional and institutional standards

5. Support students with academic planning, career guidance and post-secondary transition planning

6. Respond to crisis situations with appropriate intervention and follow-up support

7. Participate in student welfare meetings and contribute to safeguarding and duty of care protocols

8. Maintain professional development through ongoing training and engagement with counselling best practices

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or a related field.

2. Previous experience as a school counselor is preferred.

3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.

4. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.

5. Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural school environment.

6. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
