Job Summary
The Inventory Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's inventory records by monitoring inventory movements, reconciling stock transfers, analyzing inventory variances, and supporting inventory control processes. The role works closely with warehouse, retail operations, inventory audit, and accounting teams to ensure timely reporting, proper documentation, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Fresh graduates with a degree in Accountancy, Accounting Information System, or related courses are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
A. Inventory Management
- Review and reconcile stock transfers between branches, warehouses, and other locations to ensure transfer-out transactions match corresponding transfer-in records.
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in periodic, cycle, and annual physical inventory counts.
- Consolidate and validate inventory count results and prepare inventory variance reports.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, shrinkages, and stock variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit accurate periodic inventory reports for management review.
- Coordinate and monitor inventory disposal activities to ensure proper documentation and approval.
- Prepare journal vouchers (JVs) and supporting schedules for inventory-related adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with the Inventory Audit Team in validating inventory records and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the company's ERP or inventory management system.
- Maintain complete documentation supporting inventory movements, adjustments, and reconciliations.
B. Audit and Compliance
- Assist in implementing inventory control procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing necessary inventory documents and reports.
C. Other Functions
- Provide assistance during manpower shortages or urgent operational requirements, including inventory counts, cash counts, special audits, and other accounting-related activities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Finance departments to resolve inventory-related concerns.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Information System, Management Accounting, or any related field.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Experience in inventory accounting, inventory control, retail accounting, or audit is an advantage but not required.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting principles and basic accounting procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using ERP or inventory management systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to conduct branch visits and participate in physical inventory counts when necessary.
