About the role
We are seeking an Import Operation Specialist to join PT Samsung SDS Global SCL Indonesia in a full-time capacity based in Cakung, Jakarta Raya. This role is central to our import operations function, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across international borders whilst maintaining compliance with all customs and regulatory requirements. As an Import Operation Specialist, you will be responsible for managing import documentation, coordinating with customs authorities, and optimising our import processes to support the seamless delivery of products to our clients. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on our supply chain operations and contribute to the success of our logistics services.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and manage comprehensive import documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, and customs declarations
Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure timely customs clearance and regulatory compliance
Monitor and track imported shipments throughout the customs clearance process, ensuring adherence to timelines and protocols
Verify accuracy of import documentation and ensure all required supporting documents are complete and properly filed
Manage duty calculations and ensure accurate classification of goods according to the Harmonised System (HS) codes
Resolve customs discrepancies and work proactively to address any issues that may delay clearance
Maintain detailed records of all import transactions and ensure compliance with company documentation standards
Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate import schedules and delivery timelines
Stay current with changes in customs regulations, tariff policies, and trade compliance requirements
Support the optimisation of import costs through negotiation and process improvements
What we're looking for
Minimum 5 years of experience in import operations, customs brokerage, or related logistics functions
Strong knowledge of Indonesian customs procedures, regulations, and import documentation requirements
Proficiency in using customs management systems and logistics software platforms
Excellent understanding of Harmonised System (HS) codes and tariff classifications
Fluency in Indonesian and English, both written and verbal
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in documentation
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
Proven ability to work effectively with external agencies, customs officials, and internal stakeholders
Proactive problem-solving skills and a commitment to meeting strict deadlines
Professional demeanour and strong communication abilities
Preferred: Knowledge of international trade regulations, export procedures, or experience with Samsung or similar global manufacturing organisations
