About the role

Cocoon Reserve is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our team in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the aesthetic appeal and health of our gardens and landscaped areas. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will play a vital role in creating and preserving beautiful outdoor spaces that reflect our commitment to quality and environmental stewardship.

What you'll be doing

• Planting, cultivating and maintaining a variety of plants, shrubs, trees and flowers in garden beds and landscaped areas

• Performing regular watering, fertilising and pest control to ensure optimal plant health and growth

• Pruning, trimming and shaping vegetation to maintain aesthetic design and encourage healthy development

• Weeding garden beds and removing dead or diseased plant material

• Operating and maintaining gardening equipment and tools in safe and proper working condition

• Preparing soil and amending growing conditions to support plant establishment and longevity

• Following landscape design plans and horticultural best practices to achieve desired garden outcomes

• Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of garden areas, pathways and surrounding grounds

• Monitoring seasonal changes and adjusting gardening practices accordingly to suit tropical climate conditions

• Reporting maintenance issues or plant health concerns to supervisors or management

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a gardener or in landscape maintenance, ideally within tropical or subtropical climates

• Strong knowledge of plant species, growing conditions, and horticultural practices suitable for tropical environments

• Proficiency in the use and maintenance of gardening tools and equipment

• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour outdoors in warm weather conditions

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of garden aesthetics

• Knowledge of pest control and disease management techniques for plants

• Ability to follow landscape design specifications and work independently or as part of a team

• Good communication skills and willingness to take direction from supervisors

• Reliability and punctuality in attendance and task completion

• Environmental awareness and commitment to sustainable gardening practices
