Job Overview
Our UK-based client is hiring a full-time, remote Senior Financial Accountant based in South Africa. You will own technical accounting for the business: reconciliations, reporting, compliance and year-end - delivered with a precision that makes everyone downstream faster. This is a senior, long-term role on UK business hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Own balance sheet reconciliations with audit-ready documentation
- Manage VAT returns and statutory compliance with external advisers
- Lead year-end preparation and be the auditor's favourite contact
- Review the work of junior finance staff with constructive rigour
- Improve accounting processes, controls and month-end cadence
- Provide technical accounting guidance to leadership when it matters
What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day
Your rhythm follows the close calendar. Early in the month you drive reconciliations and journals; mid-month you review, document and improve; at period-end you deliver a pack whose numbers hold up under any question.
Along the way you will resolve technical queries, support the wider team with the trickier entries, and steadily automate the parts of the close that should never have been manual.

Requirements
- 5+ years' accounting experience including management accounts and reconciliations
- Professional qualification or near-qualified (SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Excellent written and spoken English for reporting and adviser liaison
- Proven reliability: stable fibre internet, backup power for load shedding, and a private home office
- Advanced with tech tools: Xero, Sage or QuickBooks plus strong Excel or Google Sheets
- Meticulous, deadline-driven and audit-minded in documentation
