Local Field Service Engineer

About the role

Transavia Group is seeking an experienced Local Field Service Engineer to support our projects in Kertapati, Palembang, and Tanjung Enim on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of mechanical systems and equipment. You will play an important role in ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction by performing on-site inspections, diagnosing technical issues, implementing effective solutions, and carrying out preventive maintenance.

What you'll be doing

1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on locomotive mechanical systems and equipment.

2. Conduct inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, adjustment, and servicing of locomotive components.

3. Provide on-site technical support at PT KAI workshops, depots, and designated project locations.

4. Diagnose equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

5. Perform functional and performance testing after maintenance and repair activities.

6. Monitor equipment condition and identify potential issues affecting reliability, safety, and operational performance.

7. Prepare detailed service reports, maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.

8. Document technical findings, failures, corrective actions, spare parts used, and maintenance recommendations.

9. Coordinate with PT KAI personnel, workshop teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

10. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance locomotive reliability and maintenance efficiency.

11. Ensure all field service activities comply with HSE requirements, technical procedures, quality standards, and PT KAI site regulations.

12. Provide technical recommendations regarding equipment condition, maintenance requirements, recurring failures, and potential improvements or replacement.

What we're looking for:

1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field.

2. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Field Service, Maintenance, Service Engineering, or similar roles.

3. Experience in locomotive/railway, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, automotive, or related equipment is preferred.

4. Strong hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and servicing.

5. Good knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.

6. Able to read technical drawings, manuals, and engineering documentation.

7. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.

8. Required language(s): English is a MUST, including conversation in English

9. Applicants must be willing to work in Palembang or Tanjung Enim area. Local applicants are preferred

10. Good communication and reporting skills.

11. Willing to work on-site at PT KAI workshops, depots, and project locations.

12. Willing to travel and work shifts/overtime/weekends when required

13. Strong commitment to HSE and safety requirements.
