2-Year Contract Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (Non-renewable)
Main Duties and Responsibilities and Working Conditions
Lead the nursing team to deliver high?quality, patient? and family?centered care for individuals with life?limiting illnesses
Take ongoing responsibility for frontline unit management, ensuring smooth and safe daily operations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to enhance service quality and care integration
Manage resources efficiently and ensure proper utilization of all clinical and operational supplies
Promote the philosophy and professional image of palliative and hospice care to internal and external stakeholders
Formulate nursing policies, service strategies, and care models to support holistic, person?centered end?of?life care aligned with the hospice mission
Establish and uphold professional nursing standards, clinical protocols, and key performance indicators to ensure quality and regulatory compliance
Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing services across shifts and teams to maintain care continuity
Enhance patient and family support through empathetic communication, psychosocial care, and end?of?life guidance
Develop innovative nursing practices and care pathways tailored to patients’ clinical needs, cultural background, and family circumstances
Coordinate nursing staff recruitment, deployment, mentoring, performance appraisal, and retention
Provide clinical supervision, case consultation, and support for staff well?being and resilience
Organize in?service training, professional development, and student placement programme
Lead quality assurance, clinical audits, policy review, and risk management projects
Represent the nursing team at external events, meetings, and collaborations to promote the hospice’ professional profile
Initiate and supervise clinical research or service evaluation projects, translating evidence into practice improvements
Undertake complex service initiatives and transdisciplinary projects as assigned by senior management.
Perform other duties as directed by the Chief Operating Officer
Qualifications and Skills
Recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master' s Degree in Nursing, Palliative Care, or Healthcare Management is preferred
Registered Nurse (General) with a valid certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong.
Formal post?registration training in palliative nursing is essential, such as a Post?registration Certificate Course (PRCC) in Palliative Nursing or equivalent
Minimum 6 years of post?registration nursing experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or geriatric settings
Demonstrated leadership in clinical service, staff management, and quality improvement within healthcare or non?profit organizations
Experience in providing compassionate end?of?life care and supporting patients and families through sensitive communication
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proficiency in written and spoken English and Cantonese is required. Mandarin is an advantage
Competence in electronic medical records and common office software
Experience in staff training, clinical research, or community partnership will be an added advantage
