This is a remote position.

Two notes for you:

Irrational Labs is based in San Francisco. But you can be based anywhere in the U.S. This is a remote U.S. company with 2x a year in-person gatherings.

This role could be part-time or full-time. If part-time, we bring people on for projects (2 or 4 days a week).

Who is this role best for?This position is perfect for someone trained in behavioral science and someone with client management skills. At current, we are not hiring junior people. This person has experience applying behavioral science concepts/ideas in a real-world environment (read: must have industry/work experience in behavioral science)

Examples of questions we answer include:

How can we increase the conversion rate for job sites that promote adult education?

How can we increase the productivity of meetings?

How can we prevent the spread of misinformation?

How can we drive adherence to healthy behaviors within a healthcare company?We work directly with PMs, designers, and marketers at tech companies. This means you will need some understanding of how a tech company works and be a skilled communicator of behavioral insights in order to get on their roadmap.

You would build relationships with senior stakeholders, form a joint working team, and take the client through the Behavioral Design process. Throughout the process, you will consult with Irrational Lab’s core team of behavioral scientists and advisors including Kristen Berman and Dan Ariely.

By being a part of this team, the person will learn key insights about human behavior that could be used in the future across domains. You’ll learn how Irrational Labs thinks about product design. You’ll be exposed to projects, workshops, and new ways to approach problems.

Requirements

Skills/experience required:
3+ years of professional experience, ideally at a behavioral consultancy shop or as a behavioral scientist at a company.
Track record of driving projects end-to-end, preferably client-facing projects
Ability to be the main counterpart to senior decision-makers at companies. Highly effective oral communicator.
Extremely persuasive and high level written communication skills (Read: You can make and edit clean slides)
Ability to design experiments, write study questions and glean insights from datasets and experiments
Ability to mock up medium-fidelity designs that represent our proposals (in ppt, figma or sketch)
Preferred: Applied behavioral science experience within industry or consultancy.
Not required: Knowledge of R or a Ph.D.
