The GIS Officer supports the collection, management, and analysis of geospatial data to strengthen BVT’s program planning, monitoring, and reporting. Reporting to the GIS Coordinator, this role produces accurate maps, spatial analyses, and visualizations that inform decision-making and donor compliance. The GIS Officer also contributes to participatory mapping, remote sensing, and field data collection, while ensuring GIS systems are well-maintained and aligned with organizational standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Geospatial Data Collection & Management:
Collect, process, and maintain spatial data from field surveys, GPS, and remote sensing. (and from partners as well)
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper documentation of geospatial datasets.
- Mapping & Visualization:
Produce clear and accurate maps, dashboards, and geospatial visualizations for internal teams, donors, and partners.
Apply cartographic standards to ensure outputs are professional and user-friendly.
- Spatial Analysis & Program Support:
Conduct spatial analysis to support program design, site selection, and monitoring of Bamboo Village landscapes.
Provide geospatial inputs for program reports, and donor submissions.
- System Maintenance & Technical Support:
Support the management of GIS software, databases, and tools to ensure functionality and reliability.
Assist staff and partners in using GIS applications and participatory mapping methods. - Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work with other departements to integrate spatial evidence into reports, knowledge products, and publications.
Support Project Leads and field teams with maps and data for planning and implementation.
