Warfare Sensor and Weapon Engineer

Department: Engineering / Combat Systems Engineering
Reports To: Combat Systems Manager / Engineering Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in:

    • Naval Architecture

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Electronics Engineering

    • Mechatronics Engineering

    • Control & Instrumentation Engineering

    • Marine Engineering

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in naval shipbuilding, defense systems, combat systems, or marine electronics.

  • Experience with warfare systems integration is preferred.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the design review, integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support of warfare systems, sensors, and weapon systems installed on naval vessels. Ensure all combat systems meet operational, safety, performance, and regulatory requirements throughout ship construction, modernization, and maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Combat System Integration
  • Coordinate integration of sensors, weapons, communication systems, and Combat Management System (CMS).

  • Review system architecture, interface requirements, and integration documentation.

  • Ensure interoperability among combat subsystems and ship platform systems.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Harbor Acceptance Test (HAT), and Sea Acceptance Test (SAT).

2. Sensor Systems Engineering
  • Support installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of:

    • Radar systems

    • Sonar systems

    • Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) systems

    • Navigation sensors

    • Electronic Support Measures (ESM)

    • Surveillance and tracking systems

  • Analyze sensor performance and recommend improvements.

  • Conduct fault diagnosis and root cause analysis on sensor-related issues.

3. Weapon Systems Engineering
  • Support installation and commissioning of:

    • Naval gun systems

    • Missile launching systems

    • Remote weapon stations

    • Fire control systems

    • Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS)

  • Verify weapon system functionality and operational readiness.

  • Coordinate testing and validation activities with OEMs and naval authorities.

4. Testing & Commissioning
  • Develop test procedures and commissioning plans.

  • Execute system verification and validation activities.

  • Analyze test data and prepare technical reports.

  • Support sea trials and operational acceptance activities.

5. Maintenance & Lifecycle Support
  • Develop preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Support modernization and upgrade projects.

  • Monitor system reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM).

  • Coordinate technical support with equipment manufacturers and naval customers.
