Machining Manager

Production Scheduling & Planning

•       Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly machining schedules aligned with production orders and delivery timelines.

•       Coordinate with the Material Planning and Production Planning teams to ensure raw material availability ahead of machining jobs.

•       Prioritise job orders to optimise machine utilisation and minimise idle time across CNC and manual machines.

•       Communicate schedule changes proactively to upstream and downstream departments.

2. Production Flow & Operations Control

•       Oversee the day-to-day operations of 15 CNC machines and 30 sets of manual machines to ensure smooth production flow.

•       Monitor output quality, cycle times, and rejection rates; initiate corrective actions when targets are not met.

•       Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all machining processes.

•       Conduct daily floor walks to identify bottlenecks, safety issues, and areas for improvement.

•       Ensure all finished components meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards before handover to the next process.

3. CNC Machine Programming

•       Write, modify, and optimise CNC programs (G-code / CAM software) for new and existing products.

•       Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to interpret technical drawings and translate them into machining instructions.

•       Maintain a library of CNC programs and ensure version control and proper documentation.

•       Troubleshoot programming errors and machine alarms to minimise downtime.

4. Team Leadership & Development

•       Lead, supervise, and develop a team of CNC operators, manual machine operators, and programmers.

•       Conduct performance appraisals, identify training needs, and develop skill-building plans.

•       Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

•       Manage attendance, shift planning, and workforce deployment across the machining division.

5. Machine Maintenance & Upkeep

•       Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance for all machines without disrupting production.

•       Track machine downtime, analyse root causes, and drive corrective maintenance actions.

•       Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements based on performance and capacity requirements.

6. Quality, Safety & Compliance

•       Ensure all machining activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.

•       Investigate and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to machining.
