This role requires the candidate to work in Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia.

Client Overview:

Our client was established in November 2014, and backed by a Chinese company. As a peer-to-peer (P2P) lending fintech company based in Jakarta, our client connects borrowers and lenders to facilitate personal and business loans through a digital platform, while fully licensed and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Indonesia.

Providing their customers with Consumer Loans, Invoice Financing (Business Loans), and other products, they have obtained significant milestones in user engagement and loan distribution. With over 5 million downloads on Google Play Store, and approximately 1.4 million registered borrowers, the platform is a dominant force in Indonesia’s digital lending landscape, while currently focusing on reinforcing its information security (ISO 27001:2022 certified) and scaling its business operations to drive greater financial inclusion across the archipelago.

Job Role:

The Business Director is a pivotal executive role responsible for driving the strategic expansion and commercial success of the company business. You will lead the "0 to 1" or "1 to 10" growth phases, ensuring that the company’s loan products—both consumer and business, scale effectively while maintaining healthy risk parameters. This role requires a sophisticated leader who can secure institutional funding, foster high-level partnerships, and align local operations with the strategic vision of the Hong Kong Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building relationships with key government officials and stakeholders.
  • Developing and executing effective government relations strategies, with a focus on promoting the interests of our organization.
  • Providing strategic guidance to the company's management team on Indonesian regulatory and policy issues.
  • Managing external relations, including engaging with stakeholders such as industry groups, NGOs, and other relevant forums.
  • Lead and oversee all legal and regulatory matters related to OJK-regulated financial services, including licensing, ongoing compliance, regulatory reporting, inspections, and regulatory change management.
  • Ensuring adherence to OJK (Financial Services Authority) rules, specifically relating to digital innovations, data protection, and anti-money laundering (AML/KYC) regulations.
  • Directing fintech operations to align with OJK guidelines on digital financial assets, including crypto, and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending.
  • Be responsible for signing legal letters and documents according to law and regulation.
  • Representing the company at external events.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or Finance (MBA preferred), with mandatory certification from Asosiasi Fintech Pendanaan Bersama Indonesia and completion or readiness to pass the Fit & Proper Test by Otoritas Jasa Keuangan
  • 10–12 years of professional experience including at least 5 years at Director/C-Level within fintech, banking, or financial services, with a proven track record in scaling digital platforms and driving revenue growth in regulated environments
  • Deep expertise in Indonesia’s P2P lending landscape, OJK regulations, and institutional funding networks, combined with strong capabilities in strategic planning, financial modeling, data-driven decision-making, negotiation, and stakeholder management
  • Visionary and resilient leader with high integrity, strong execution capability, and a demonstrated passion for advancing financial inclusion
  • Executive-level English proficiency with the ability to deliver high-impact presentations and lead complex negotiations with global investors, institutional partners, and regional leadership
  • Must comply with strict governance requirements, including no concurrent Director roles, a maximum of three Commissioner roles, and no additional employment
  • For expatriates, must obtain Indonesian language certification within one year and hold valid residency (KITAS/KITAP) and work authorization (RPTKA/Notifikasi)
