Data Analyst - PT Ayo Indonesia Maju (Ayo)

About Ayo

Ayo is Indonesia's largest sports venue booking and community platform. We connect close to a million players with over 2,100 venue partners across the country — badminton, futsal, padel, tennis, mini soccer and more. We run two businesses at once: a SaaS product that venues use to manage their operations, and a marketplace where players book courts and join open play sessions.

Why this role exists

We have a lot of data.

A substantial number of transactions, including venue scheduling modifications, community play sessions, and customer support interactions, are processed through our infrastructure daily. Currently, critical business insights—pertaining to venue attrition, session optimization, pricing strategies, and regional expansion in Malaysia—are predominantly derived from fragmented spreadsheets and qualitative intuition.

This role is designed to institutionalize data-driven decision-making. Far from a routine reporting function, the successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of strategic inquiries that directly inform the company’s future trajectory.

What you'll work on

Venue performance optimization. With 2,100+ venue partners, our biggest opportunity is helping them grow. Find the behavioural signals — high login frequency, peak booking volume trends, and proactive schedule updates — that correlate with top-tier performance. Turn these insights into actionable playbooks for our Customer Success team to help every venue reach its full potential.

Community function optimization. Our community features (open play, open match, scoring and player rating) present a significant opportunity for growth through data-driven refinement. By analyzing the core components of liquidity—including match fill rates across different sports, cities, and time slots; time-to-fill velocity; and the factors behind unfilled sessions—we can enhance the user experience. Investigating the retention of players who join open matches will help us determine whether to focus on improving distribution, matching algorithms, or solving cold-start dynamics to maximize platform efficiency.

Data foundation & infrastructure. Working closely with the management team and ??auditing the current data structure to map any required tools and setup.

Regional expansion strategy. Guide our growth beyond Indonesia. You will define success metrics for new market entries and develop a rigorous framework to evaluate and prioritize regional expansion opportunities, helping us decide which countries to enter next and how to measure our performance.

What we're looking for

  • 4–5 years working with data in a consumer product, marketplace, or high-growth startup environment

  • Strong SQL — you can write window functions, cohort queries and retention analyses without looking them up

  • Python or R for analysis beyond what SQL handles

  • Comfortable building and maintaining your own data pipelines; you don't need an engineer to get data into a usable state

  • Experience with a BI tool (Metabase, Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and a warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift)

  • You can explain a finding to a salesperson, a designer and a founder in the same meeting and have all three understand it

  • You are comfortable being the only person in the room who knows what the data says, and saying it plainly even when it's unwelcome

Nice to have

  • dbt, Airflow, or similar modern data stack tooling

  • Product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog)

  • Marketplace or subscription-business metrics experience (GMV, take rate, cohort retention, net revenue retention)

  • Interest in sports — you'll understand our users faster

What we offer

  • Direct reporting line to leadership — your work reaches decisions without passing through three layers

  • Genuine ownership of the data function, and the chance to build it as the company grows

  • BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BPJS Kesehatan

  • THR

  • Hybrid working

  • Wellbeing and Sport Bucket
